When Alpha Youth approached us to help them fully develop a new series that could not only speak to Canadian youth, but youth from Canada, USA, & UK we started our process with going right to the source. We worked alongside students and developed our concept with student groups from all three countries. It was fascinating to hear their similarities and the nuances that made their own countries unique. Our main goal was to create content that would feel like the camera angle wasn't looking down at them but rather eye to eye with them. Making sure every step of the way we were speaking to them from their perspective. We then went into production and flew all over Canada, USA, & UK and had a blast filming students being students. One of the biggest take aways from this project was that if you just give students some space, and truly listen there's so much for us creative professionals to learn. Our job was less to direct their energy and rather just capture it.
